Many actors in tears as Charles Olumo Agbako is laid to rest in Ogun [VIDEO]

Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, the ace Nigerian actor popularly known as Charles Olumo and Baba Agbako, has been laid to rest in Ogun.

Charles Olumo or Agbako, has been buried in Atan Ota, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites.

Not long after his death, Charles Olumo Agbako was buried. The renowned Nollywood actor was buried in Ogun in accordance with Islamic customs after passing away at the age of 101.

Several actors, including Foluke Daramola, attended the funeral and shed resentful tears.

A live stream captured the solemn moment as the body of the actor, wrapped in a mat and white clothing material, was carefully lowered into a grave.

The video also featured Islamic clerics in attendance, offering prayers and reciting Quranic verses before the grave was covered.

Actress Idowu Phillips popularly known as Mama Rainbow was also present at the burial.

In an Instagram post, Bolaji Amusan aka Mr Latin, president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), also confirmed the actor has been buried. Mr Latin wrote:

“Finally laid to rest. May your soul rest in peace Pa Charles Olumo Sanyanolu Agbako,”

Agbako was famous especially in the Yoruba film industry, with a career that spans over four decades.

In June, the actor spoke about his visits to movie locations despite his age, adding that he is very agile and jumped around to prove his point.


Born on February 19, 1923, in Abeokuta, Ogun state, the film star once worked as a mechanic and later as an amateur boxer before venturing into acting.

He started his acting career in 1953 in the Apostolic Church, Mushin, in Lagos state and later began to train the drama groups of other churches.

Agbako eventually joined Nollywood and gained prominence for his action and scary persona roles in Yoruba films.

He starred in a plethora of movies such as: ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Jagun’, ‘Amin Orun’, ‘Aiye’, ‘Jayesinmi’, ‘Saworoide  Ide’, and ‘Igbo Dudu’
