The Yoruba niche of Nollywood is engulfed in deep sorrow as it bids farewell to one of its most treasured figures, Charles Olumo, better known as Agbako, hailed as “the world’s oldest actor.”
The death of Agbako, Nollywood’s oldest and most admired actor, has left the industry in deep grief.
There is a profound sense of grief that permeates the film industry when Mr. Latin solemnly verified the tragic news of Charles Olumo’s passing.
Agbako’s journey came to a close on Thursday, September 31, a day that will forever mark the loss of a true pioneer. Bolaji Amusan, widely known as Mr. Latin and the respected president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), confirmed the heartbreaking news.
In a poignant tribute shared on social media, Mr. Latin posted a touching photograph of Agbako, reflecting on the profound impact he had on the lives of many within the industry.
His message resonated with grief, admiration, and a call to celebrate the life of a man who dedicated his existence to the craft of acting.
As the film community grapples with this tremendous loss, Mr Latin averred that plans for Agbako’s burial arrangements will soon be revealed, allowing fans and colleagues to gather and honor his memory.
He wrote;
“@tampanglobal announces the passing of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as AGBAKO. Details of the burial arrangements will be shared at a later time. Good night father, 25/02/1923 to 31/10/2024”
