MEET SOLA SOBOWALE , AND HOW SHE STARTED HER CAREER

Sola Sobowale was born on December 26, 1965, in Ondo State to Joseph and Esther Olagookun, she is a celebrated Nigerian actress, producer, scriptwriter, and director. She gained widespread fame for her iconic roles, such as Toyin Tomato in Super Story, Laburu in King of Boys, and Awarun in Anikulapo.

Known for her elegance, creativity, beauty, and masterful portrayal of characters, Sola’s journey in the world of acting began in Ondo, where she completed her elementary and secondary education. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan. Her brother-in-law, Tunji Oyelana, who was a significant influence in her early career, facilitated her admission into the university. Oyelana, a multifaceted talent as a singer, actor, and lecturer, also helped her secure her acting debut in the film Sura The Tailor.

Sola’s acting career was further shaped by her involvement with the Awada Kerikeri Group, led by Adebayo Salami. This collaboration opened doors for her to take on various roles in productions like Asewo To Re Mecca, Mirror in the Sun, and The Village Headmaster. Over the years, she has demonstrated her versatility by writing, co-writing, directing, and producing numerous Nigerian movies, including Ohun Oko Somida and Family on Fire, directed by Tade Ogidan.

Sola Sobowale’s personal life is as fulfilling as her professional one. She is married to Oludotun Sobowale, a former Executive Director of Eko Hospital, and they are blessed with five children. Her career, marked by a blend of talent and dedication, continues to inspire many in the Nigerian film industry and beyond.
